Commentary

In 2 Chronicles 17, we see the reign of King Jehoshaphat of Judah. He was a righteous king who followed the Lord and sought to lead his people in the ways of the Lord. He removed the high places and the Asherim from Judah and commanded the people to seek the Lord. He also appointed Levites and priests to teach the people the law of the Lord. Jehoshaphat also made an alliance with King Ahab of Israel. This alliance was not wise, as Ahab was an idolater and did not follow the Lord. Despite this, Jehoshaphat was successful in his reign and the Lord gave him rest from all his enemies. This chapter serves as a reminder to us that we should seek the Lord and follow His ways. We should not be swayed by the world and its temptations, but instead seek to serve the Lord faithfully. We should also be careful in our alliances and make sure that we are not compromising our faith. May we be like Jehoshaphat and seek to serve the Lord faithfully.
